I’m a huge fan of Bespoke Post and this month I got hooked-up with the first cocktail related delivery. There was a cocktail aging kit from Black Swan Cooperage and a set of glasses from Sempli. Between my addiction to glassware and my obsession to trying to cocktail methods, this was a win-win situation.
To top it off, there was a recipe list of 4 cocktails to test out the aging kit; White Manhattan, Deshler, 2:1 Gin Martini & Negroni. The Deshler looked the most interesting so I went with that. I mixed of a batch of about 3 servings and poured most of it into the glass bottle. The little bit left was my tasting. This was here so I could get a feel for what the base cocktail tastes like.
Taste: Pre-aged, this drink has a lot of aromatic flavors and the peychaud’s bitters brings all of it together. This is really great and I’m looking forward to it after the aging.
Sourcing:This isn’t crazy to locate all the ingredients. I think the Dubonnet is the hardest to find and it seems to be popping up more and more. Any good rye will work but I love Bulleit.
