Two of my favorite things are cocktails and marimbas. Most people might be asking themselves, “What is a marimba?” It’s actually a percussion instrument similar to a xylophone but much deeper and richer in tone. It is also the instrument I played in High School and some of college.
The Detroit Symphony Orchestra has been doing a series of concerts called Rush Hour Recitals. These are remote concerts in unique venues.
The most recent one was at The Skip in Detroit’s The Belt alley. They vary in instruments and this one happened to be percussion.
Principle Joseph Becker and Assistant Principle Andres Pichardo-Rosenthal played 6 pieces of music ranging in instruments from keyboards to toms to just clapping.
Ian Ross held down the bar with Skips trademark assortment of frozen cocktails, craft drinks and premium beers.
He made me the Tera’s Fountain. A delicious combo of Gin, Green Chartreuse, Cascara (aka Coffee Cherry Tea), Lime, Sugar, Absinthe, Egg and Orange Bitters.
The abundance of flavors mingled well together while remaining light with the egg white and gin.
Make sure to check out the next Rush Hour Recital and the Summer cocktails available at The Skip. Until next time, Budmo!
