Tonight's Cocktail (11/12/12): A Moment of Silence

After a long search for Marie Brizard Apry, I found it in Miami. Probably an other effort in futility but I enjoy the hunt. I pull out my beta cocktail book seeming to remember there were 30 or 40 drinks that require the precious elixer. Turns out there were three. I’ve done more for less but that was a bit disappointing. Especially since I only had ingredients for a half ass attempt at one of the recipes.

The Moment of Silence is a bitter mix of Campari, Averna, Rye Whiskey, Laird’s 100 proof, 1/2 oz of Angostura Bitters and of course Marie Brizard Apry. Nearly out of Angostura Bitters (mortal sin, I know) and no Laird’s 100 proof, I settled for Calvados Brandy (for the Laird’s) and Scrappy’s Aromatic Bitters.

With all those bitter ingredients and 1/2 oz (~15 dashes) of bitters, this is a bitter pill. But all the other tasty ingredients round this out to be an amazing drink. I also love the whimsical mason jar.

Budmo!
