If you happened to catch NPR’s Science Friday on…Friday. You would have heard Richard Zare, a chemist from Stanford University, talk about the science of bubbles with a focus on bubbles in alcoholic beverages. There were a few things I already knew (bubbles form because of glass imperfections, dust, etc) and a few things I didn’t (bubbles flow down on the outside of Guinness because they are flowing up in the middle creating a current). I highly encourage you listen to the segment for some great cocktail conversation tonight at your NYE party.

The Guinness bubble thing will help me impress my costumers with my knowledge. I envision three really cool women leaning over the bar making sure they hear every gem I enlighten them with.
