Oakland Apprenticeship - Chapter 4: Bottle Service

Boxing - Nick Drinks Blog

Bottling cocktails is a great way to add some fun to a cocktail program as well as take from pressure off the bartenders on duty with a quick turn-around drink.

The Oakland bottles carbonated Singapore Slings. The carbonation allows them to keep longer.

A few specialized pieces of equipment are needed for this and most of them will be familiar to home brewers; Filler Gun, 5 Gallon Keg & Capper. Combine these pieces of equipment with a CO2 supply, your batched cocktails & empty bottles.

The filler gun has two buttons. The small button purges the air from the bottle and fills it with CO2. The second bigger trigger fills the liquid. The goal is to do it quickly (so you aren’t there all day) but not too quickly or you will have too many bubbles. Keeping the filler head below the surface of the liquid also helps the process.

Capping - Nick Drinks Blog

The final step of the process is to cap the bottle and you are good to go. It is surprisingly easy and makes me want to bottle cocktails at home…so I can drink at home…alone. Maybe that’s a bad idea.
