Tonight's Cocktail (11/1/12): Hemingway Daiquiri with a twist

While wondering the aisles of Holiday Market, I came across a pummelo (or pomelo). It is a relative to the grapefruit and is a massive piece of citrus (latin: Citrus Maxima). I dug around for some cocktails to make with it and everything I found required ingredients I didn’t have. So I tried to use it as a grapefruit and it worked out really well.

Enter the Hemingway Daiquiri. This is a cocktail from the classic era that I first tried at the Velvet Tango Room. The drink is a bit dry (not sweet) on purpose based on Hemingway’s request. Being dead and all, I don’t think he would mind me sweetening it up a bit with a sweeter version of the grapefruit.

The drink is incredibly drinkable. Everything blends together really nicely. The maraschino liqueur brings a nice floral hint.

I give this a thumbs up.

Budmo!
